Morris Chair Class at Marc Adams-Apr. 15-19, 2019

Bob Lang Morris Chair Reproduction
If you’re a fan of Craftsman Furniture you need one of these.

This spring I will be returning to the Marc Adams School of Woodworking for a week-long class on building a reproduction of the Gustav Stickley No. 369 bent arm Morris Chair. Of all the chairs of this type this is my favorite — an intriguing combination of exposed joinery, great proportions and a comfortable place to sit and relax. You can join me to build this “bucket list” project in the premier destination for woodworking education. This class is a repeat of a very popular and productive week in 2015. You can read a post about the previous class at this link and you can view a gallery of photos on SmugMug at this link. You can also find large format plans of this iconic chair here.

This older post talks about why I like this chair and some of the challenging aspects of building it. One of the best parts of tackling a project like this in a class is that the equipment and the techniques are ready and waiting for you. That doesn’t mean that things will be easy, but you won’t get hung up doing things the hard way.

My favorite moments in teaching come when I get to see someone accomplish things they didn’t believe they could really do. I hope you’ll be able to join me for this class. If you have any questions, just leave a comment below or send me an email by clicking on my signature below.

I will also be at MASW in August, teaching a two day class on “Supercharging SketchUp”.

As with most of the things I do, I don’t do much marketing or soliciting to teach but I usually say “yes” when I’m asked. If you’re interested in instruction in woodworking or SketchUp, send me an email to get the conversation started.
