When I first made a reproduction of this piece for Popular Woodworking magazine, I hadn’t seen the original, but worked from an archive photograph. This drawing is a more accurate depiction of this unusual table. The legs are subtly sculpted, hollow between the edges and gently rounded on the edges. The top is offset from the base, and features delicate inlays at either end. The inlays are realistically caved, and sit lightly proud of the tops surface. The Ford furniture has a slightly darker finish than is usually seen, more brown than red.
