The attraction to the artwork created by Zulma Steele and Edna Walker at the Byrdcliffe Colony in Woodstock, New York is contagious. While preparing my book Shop Drawings for Byrdcliffe Furniture a couple of years ago I asked my lovely, charming and talented wife to color a few of the patterns with watercolors to use in the book. It made sense to hang them on the wall. Before long we decided that it would be a good thing if the resulting art work were made available to everyone. The world needs more art hanging on our walls. We looked into it and purchased a Glicée printer to produce prints and note cards. If you’d like to see them in person, the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild has both available in their shop, along with my book. Both prints and cards are available directly from this website.
We produce these in house with the best available technology, inks and paper. At present we have five images available, Iris, Lillies, Poppy, Tulip and Thistle. These are derived from the patterns I used in my book and based on the line art by Zulma Steele and Edna Walker. More designs will be added in the coming months.
PRINTS: These are sized to fit in a “standard” 8×10 frame, or in an 8×10 matte in an 11×14 frame for the convenience of those who don’t want a custom size frame. The ink is archival quality and the paper is 100% rag, acid free, archival quality and the prints are mounted on acid free foam core with acid free tape. Prints are shipped in a clear bag and a padded envelope that protects the print while in transit. The adhesive is on the bag, not the flap and can be carefully opened and resealed.
CARDS: These are 5×7, printed on the same archival quality card stock and ink. The image is on the front of the card and the interior is blank. They are sold in boxes of 5 cards and include envelopes. You can order 5 of any design, or an assortment of all 5 current designs. They also look nice hanging on the wall and fit standard frame sizes.
