This spring I will be returning to the Marc Adams School of Woodworking for a week-long class on building a reproduction of the Gustav Stickley No. 369 bent arm Morris Chair. Of all the chairs of this type this is my favorite — an intriguing combination of exposed joinery, great proportions and a comfortable place to sit and relax. You can join me to build this “bucket list” project in the premier destination for woodworking education. This class is a repeat of a very popular and productive week in 2015. This older post talks about why I like this chair and some of the challenging aspects of building it. One of the best parts of tackling a project like this in a class is that the equipment and the techniques are ready and waiting for you. That doesn’t mean that things will be easy, but you won’t get hung up doing things the hard way.
