On October 13-14, 2018 I will be conducting a two-day SketchUp class, in Pittsburgh, PA thanks to the Western Pennsylvania Woodworkers club. I will also be giving a presentation of my work to the club (guests are welcome) on Friday evening. If you want to take the quickest route to becoming an expert in using SketchUp to design, plan and problem-solve your woodworking projects, sign up for this class. Whether you’re new to SketchUp or have 3D modeling experience, you will leave this class with a better understanding of how the program works, efficient techniques for using it and several tricks up your sleeve.
Over the past 10 years I’ve taught thousands of people how to make the most of SketchUp through classes like this and my SketchUp books. We start with the basics – understanding how stuff behaves in SketchUp and how to navigate in the onscreen world of 3D modeling. By Sunday afternoon we’ll be working on detailed models, creating joinery with just a couple of clicks and gathering information like detailed and accurate cutlists from your model.
During class I demonstrate techniques (my computer is projected) then coach individually (students bring their own laptops or other computers). Along the way I answer questions and we tackle issues as they arise.There are common problems that most folks stumble on and not-so-obvious solutions that we focus on in class. I provide several handouts for later reference and my books are available at a special price.
