American Period Furniture

I am pleased to announce that I have agreed to edit the 2018 edition of “American Period Furniture” the annual journal of the Society of American Period Furniture Makers. This will be a refreshing change for me as the focus of this publication is the highest possible quality information and production values. Beginning January 1st, 2018 I will be gathering articles and working with SAPFM members to prepare for publication next fall. I am honored to have this task ahead of me, and I look forward to meeting the organization’s members in Williamsburg, Virgina in January.

If you’re serious about building reproductions of historic American furniture you should join SAPFM. In addition to receiving “American Period Furniture” members are welcomed to a community (both online and in person) of great folks dedicated to sharing information and resources about furniture, furniture history and the techniques to build it. Check out all the benefits at sapfm.org. If you’re already a SAPFM member, feel free to contact me directly via e-mail.

Although this is an important job, it isn’t full-time, so I’ll still be here, doing what I do. In the coming weeks look for information about online SketchUp classes, live classes on woodworking and SketchUp (including these classes at Marc Adams School of Woodworking). I also have some publishing projects in the works; a couple of magazine articles and a new book of measured drawings. The sidebar to the right lets you subscribe to new content on this site, and my newsletter.
