Build an Arts & Crafts Mantel Clock DVD

dvdcover_front500This clock was originally designed in 1895 by British architect and designer C.F.A. Voysey. The best known version is painted, but there are also examples in ebony and oak with inlaid faces. The clock in the video is featured as the cover article of the August 2013 issue of Popular Woodworking Magazine, and it is made of tiger maple, ebonized black walnut and mother-of pearl and ebony inlays.

Bob Lang shows you in this video how to create this beautiful piece from a small amount of material with basic power and hand tools. You’ll see his set-ups, jigs and techniques for constructing the case, creating and joining the moldings, inlaying the mother-of-pearl, ebonizing the walnut and making the tiger maple pop.

This video is more than two hours in length and comes on a DVD.

I left Popular Woodworking magazine in 2014, and products published by them are no longer available from my website.
