A different approach to fastening the rails to the head and footboard–the removable pegs lock the through tenons of the rails to the head and footboard. These joints should not be glued. The head and foot board are identical. Dimensions have been modified slightly to accommodate a modern queen size mattress-before you begin construction, check the fit of the particular mattress you will be using.
