To give you a better idea of what my new book “SketchUp For Kitchen Design” is like, I recorded a short video. Kitchens aren’t the most glamorous woodworking projects, but a new kitchen has been, and will be among the most popular remodeling projects. My earlier, print book “The Complete Kitchen Cabinetmaker” details the nuts and bolts woodworking aspects of a typical residential kitchen project. It’s been around for ten years now, through several printings. One of my reasons for writing it was to present available options from common industry methods.
“SketchUp For Kitchen Design” deals with the same general subject but shows how to use SketchUp to make a 3D model of the room, fill it with cabinets and appliances, and create great looking visual presentations to help problem solve, plan and present the project. As you learn how to use SketchUp you also learn the processes and procedures for efficiently planning a great looking, highly functional kitchen. My motivation for writing this book was similar to what led me to write my earlier book; SketchUp is a powerful design tool that many people would benefit from, but it is hard to find a way to learn it without getting bogged down in information that isn’t always relevant to what you want to do.
Watch the video below to take a five-minute tour of this book. If a kitchen remodel is in your future, or if you want to learn a simple, up-to-date method for designing a kitchen (or any other room) with 3D modeling, this book gives you the tools you need
