Thorsen House Plant Stand SketchUp Model

Here is a more accurate SketchUp model of the Thorsen House plant stand, one of the projects that students can build in my “Real Details of Arts & Crafts Furniture” class. The model in the Popular Woodworking 3D Warehouse collection is similar, but contains some changes from the original. This model is closer to the original, which can be seen at the Huntington Museum, and is based on the drawings from my book “Shop Drawings for Greene & Greene Furniture”.

In the near future, I’ll be posting material lists for these projects, as well as recommended tools to bring to class. If you want to spend a week in the shop picking my brain and learning how I build furniture, I hope you’ll join me in Indiana.

All of the models for the class are available free online in the 3D Warehouse.

  1. Greetings,
I have both “Craftsman Interiors” and your “Stickley Furniture” shop plans book. I live in the Fairmount National Register Historic District in Fort Worth Texas. I am writing an article on our bungalow era interiors of our district’s houses in our neighborhood newsletter and would like to receive permission from you to reprint a couple drawings from your “Craftsman Interiors”. Could you advise me if this is possible?

    Thanks.
    Phil Bordeleau

  2. Hi Phil,

I’m usually agreeable to this kind of request, my criteria are that you ask first, mention in print the source of the image, and include a link back to this website. So go ahead, and I’d like to see the article when your newsletter comes out.
